Cake and Cookie Dreams:
There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing big smiles after a slice of cake, or cookies dipped in milk... and even better, French Macarons with wine or tea!
About the Baker:
Arriving in the United States in 2006, I dove head-on into being a Nurse, mom and wife. The hardest part about leaving The Philippines was saying goodbye to my favorite dishes, cakes and pastries, which were absolutely hard to find in the Dallas area. My mom had a catering business and a bakery, so I've tasted some pretty great food in my lifetime.
Kusina sa Eskina was born from my relentless search for time-tested flavors and new age concepts in preparing Filipino favorites as well as food from other cultures. It was hard, since I only knew how to cook fried eggs, fried rice, and fried pork when I got married in 2002, and maybe attempted to bake box-mix cupcakes once or twice after that.
Just a baby in the kitchen scene, this cook/baker is undaunted by the sprouting cupcake shops, cafes and little restos. Anyone can cook... or in my case, BAKE!
All the food here is prepared fresh, from scratch, and sometimes, if I'm lucky, even using organic home-grown ingredients. Some recipes are not mine, hence they will have a note where the recipe can be found online. I only sell baked products that's allowed in the stipulations of SB81 Texas Food Law. All the other photos are eye candy, and if you'd like the recipes, they are on my blog... winkyskitchen.blogspot.com or keykh
